Which one are you feeding?

I got this from the uni guild magazine:

An Old American Indian tolod his grandson that there is a battle between two wolves that lies within him.

One wolf is filled with evil, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, inferiority, lies, superiority and ego.

The other is filled with good, joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, faith, courage, honour and integrity.

The grandson asks his pop which one wins the battle. The old man simply replies, "The one you feed..."

roaches

just now is the 2nd time i catch cockroach in my house..
thats the thing about spring, all the little buggers start coming out..
i catch la, not spray cos here no spray..
not use the selipar to whack it, cos scared it kemek
then all the jus come out then even harder to clean..
so i pakai plastic bag to catch it, then tie the bag up,
then put it in the bin outside the house so it wont stink up the house when it dies..
ish, hate the dirty little thingies..
yuck..
my personal experience:
there was one time a roach climbed up to my thigh,
i freaked out, screamed, jumped up and down
and was franticaly trying to shake it off my leg
(cos i din wana brush it off since it would get my hands dirty)
yuck.

one experience is enough
oh and another one just the other day:
i was reading magazine, crossed-legged in front of the tv ont the couch,
i flipped the page of the magazine, then suddenly,
ui? how come got something brown on the side of my knee,
and then in the shortest moment(slip second),
i realised what it is,
then i panic la, (no, i din scream) then jump up,
but i din see where it go,
then i scared oredi, cos dono where it went.
so i stand up, check the couch, the floor, nothing..
ok lo, continue reading..
...................
i remember i would hold on to my mom when we go to damai at night, cos always got roaches coming out of the longkang holes..then scared me then i panic and scream..
i hate roaches
alot...
i wish they didn't have such flat bodies, then i wouldn't have to worry
about them coming into my room..

yuck yuck yuck!!!

nano nano

The song in my head in the middle of the night when i still got lots of things to do which i cannot finish doing now which i am going to continue tomorrow or probably even later since i got so many things i have to do before i go back:

Qantas jet passengers injured in mid-air plunge

Mathew Murphy and Clay LucasOctober 8, 2008

TWENTY passengers have been seriously injured - some with spinal injuries and broken noses - when their Qantas flight bound for Perth plummeted suddenly.

In all, 36 passengers aboard QF72 from Singapore were last night being treated for injuries sustained after the packed plane dropped hundreds of metres within seconds.

In a bid to rush badly injured passengers aboard the flight to hospital, the plane made an emergency landing on a remote RAAF airstrip in the tiny Western Australian town of Learmonth.

The 303 passengers and 10 crew aboard the Airbus 330-300 experienced a sudden drop in altitude.

Yeah, i went to watch..

I expected it to follow the original story line in the movies, but it didn't, so fot the first half of the show, i was confused and falling asleep. There were masquerades int he town centre, and cinderella was already dancing with the prince, and she replaced the star dancer (one of her evil step-sisters) in Swan Lake when the star fell down.

I liked the end part the best, after they bowed. Cos they did like a perfomance again, with the whole cast. It was kinda like a tap dancing thing (with their ice skates) on the ice, a synchronise thing. And everyone did the turning trick on the ice, literally everyone. The whole stagee was full of skaters turning around!

It is quite amazing how they can do so much on such a small stage, it was no bigger than the one in Yayasan Sabah (Tun Mustapha Building). They handled the props really well, instead of having ppl to move them around, they had them attached to strings/wires. The props were suspended in the air, and then lowered down when needed. Ppl were flying in the air too, and i remembere one flying away like Mary Poppins, but instead of holding on to an umbrella, she was holding some balloons..

hello people

hello, hello

If you have been wondering about what has been going on, here's a little update

I just moved out of my homestay to a new place (share house), I'm finally living out on my own!! Yay! It's a new experience for me, having to do my own laundry, cooking and cleaning. But i guess that's how you learn. I mean, it's not too bad, except grocery shopping, because there's too much stuff to carry, and one week's supply of food is too heavy to carry (not a very nice thing to do, esp when you're taking the bus or walking). Since I moved to my new place (30 sept), I have been blessed enough to have an aunty bring me grocery shopping, so I don't need to take the bus or carry so much stuff. I don't how things are going to be for the weeks to come, but oh well, I'll worry about it then.
(btw, I decided to find a new place because the homestay price was increased. Again, I was blessed with this house, THANK YOU GOD)

Right now its all about my assignments and tests again, my finals are in about 4 weeks (29 Aug to 3 Oct). After that, I'm free. Yay! No more assignments ++ until next year. I'm planning to work (hopefully, if I can find a job), and then go back for Christmas and CNY.
Oh, I'm so excited! Can't wait!

But till then, I'm stuck with my books again.

Kill the Wabbit!!

In case you guys didn't know, there is a rabbit living IN the house that I am staying at now. I was ok with the rabbit at first, but then it started to be VERY naughty. Here, I list some of the damages done by the insane rabbit, who is also known as Peel.

1.chew my hp charger wire into 8 pieces
2.chew the wire of my heater until you can see the metal thing inside
3.chewed the sleeve of my jacket which was 2 weeks old
4.chewed the sleeve of another jacket (both berlubang-lubang already)
5.pooped in my room
6.pooped in my room for the second time

FYI:
The rabbit doesn't like me either. If you think that rabbits are stupid, think again. When I scolded it for chewing my stuff, it came into my room without me noticing. when I saw it, i shouted, then it ran behind my bed. when I finally got it out of my room, I looked behind my bed - rabbit poop. so dont tell me rabbits aren't smart, cos this one is. and she growled at me during dinner just now. Yes, a rabbit growling at me. Ganas.

When I found out the damage done to my belongings, I was so angry and upset, then quickly call my mom. And not long after that, a song appeared in my head:

"Kill the Wabbit, Kill the Wabbit, Kill the Wabbit..."

So, here's a little something to bring back those childhood memories from looney tunes! Its long, but I enjoyed it :)

Wha would a father do for his son?

A son asked his father, “Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?”

The father who, despite having a heart condition, says “Yes.

They went on to complete the marathon together.

Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying “Yes” to his son’s request of going through the race together.

One day, the son asked his father, ‘Dad, let’s join the Ironman together’.

To which, his father said ‘Yes’ to.

For those who didn’t know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Father and son went on to complete the race together.

[ The video below reminded me of what Jesus did for us, going all the way to the cross. ]

Joyful Joyful by Lauren Hill

Joyful Joyful - Lauryn Hill

..this my song of the day..

Joyful, joyful
Lord we adore Thee
God of Glory, Lord of Love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Clearly as the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light
Fill us with the light
Oh fill us with the light of day

*Beat Starts*

Joyful, joyful
Lord we adore Thee
God of Glory, Lord of Love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Clearly as the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin, sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Drive it away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us
Fill us with the light of day
Light of day

Check the rhyme
Joyful, joyful
Lord we adore Thee
And in my life I could not afford Thee
'Cos as youngster I came to know
That you were the only way to go

So I had to grow and I come to an understanding
And I'm down with the King
So no-one comanded
You tell me "Who you down with" see
All I know is that I'm down with G.O.D

You know G.O.D
Yeah, you know me
You know G.O.D
Yeah, you know me
You know G.O.D
Yeah, you know me
You know G.O.D
Everybody

Join the mighty chorus
The mighty mighty chorus
Which the morning stars become
The Father of Love is mighty glorious

By the way!
What have you done for Him lately
Ooooh yeah (Oh)
What have you done for Him lately
He watches over everthing
So we sing!

[Repeat Chorus)

Fill us (Fill us with the light of day Lord, oh fill
us)
Fill us (Oh we need you yes we do, ooh fill us)
Fill us (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Fill us (With the light of day Lord)
Fill us (With the light of day Lord)
Fill us (With the light of day Lord)

Fill us (We need you, we need you to Pray, we need
you, need you today)
Fill us (We need you I'm gonna say)
Fill us (Fill us, fill us, fill us, fills us!)

Fill us
Fill us with the light of day (Oh yeah)
LIGHT OF DAY!

update

i malas update la..waiting for movie to load now..well, anyway...

currently, i also have nothing to do, except organizing my stuff from last semester, putting them away, unpacking..

class starts for me on the following monday. This semester is in some ways different for me, cos i have classes everyday now. which means i have to go out everyday, no sleeping in for me. soooo sad :(

right now, its the beginning of winter, and according to some of my friends, the weather has been pretty unpreditable: it would be rainy for a few days, then sunny for a few days. And let me tell you, rainy days are NOT fun here, it gets really cold and windy, and its worst when you're outside waiting for the bus. No point using the umbrella cos you'll be like mary poppins.

cant wait to go back to kk again!!

AND

Thank GOD for my results :)

I dah kena

I bored kat rumah,
nampak the weighing machine on the floor.
Jadi,
I berdiri di atasnya.
terus I tengok nombor-nombor di scale tu,
terus mataku jadi besar,
after 7-8 weeks di sini,
i dah gain
2 kilo's
Tapi masih underweight,
what to do.
Tunggulah beberapa bulan lagi.

.
I'm sure mom would be delighted to hear about it.
Sam, I'm still ahead of you.
.
Fikiran dan omongan ku:
Mungkinkah sebab donut-donut
yang banyak chocolate, jam dan cream itu?
Ataupun homemade chocolate chip cookie yang enak?
Atau terlampau banyak snack time in one day?
Mungkin juga disebabkan oleh the fact that
i eat the most during dinner time,
taking and eating everything that is offered to me,
tapi ku tak rasa kenyang.
Ada giuk dalam perut ku?
Mungkin juga.
Tapi kalau betul ada,
ku takkan gain weight.
Jangan risau,
aku takkan go on diet,
i won't execise either,
terlampau malas,
dan ada banyak kerja yang kena aku siapkan.

'Cause they're not hip with it
I don't wanna be a hypocrite

I don't wanna be a Sadducee
I don't wanna be a Sadducee
'Cause they're so sad, you see?
I don't wanna be a Sadducee

I don't wanna be a goat
No no no no
I don't wanna be a goat
No no no no
'Cause there's no hope for goats

Sushi

I made sushi for the first time after cell group on Friday night. First one was kinda square-ish, but still its not bad, since I found a picture of a square-shaped sushi.

Fillings available on that night were:
Omelettes
Cucumbers
Carrots
Tuna

Mayo

The mayo let out a squirt when i was trying to roll the sushi, made me and the other girls around me laugh..

Some peopla made californian roll with the extra seaweed, since there weren't anymore rice left.

The 'juice' in the tuna 'leaked' out of the seaweed while i was eating the 'californian roll', so I had to wash my baju the next day.

-
FYI:

A Makisu, made out of bamboo, used to roll the sushi.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

For those who wants to make sushi, here are some simple brief instructions i found on the internet.

Making Sushi Rice
(Using a rice cooker)
1. Prepare the rice vinegar by heating it with sugar and salt until they are dissolved.
2. Rinse the rice in cold water for several minutes.
3. Steam in a rice cooker.
4. One can alternately bring water to a boil, add the rice, then cook over very low heat until the water is evaporated. This will leave the rice sticky and perfect for spreading on your nori (a thin sheet of seaweed).
5. Either use the rice soon after preparing it, or cover it with a damp cloth to keep it moist.
6. Do not refrigerate the cooked rice.

Rolling and Cutting the Sushi
1. Put a sheet of plastic wrap over the bamboo mat.
2. Place Nori down on the bamboo mat. Typically, the shinier side is put face down.
3. With damp hands, grab the cooked rice and spread it onto the Nori. The layer of rice should be thin enough so that you can see the nori underneath.
4. Leave about half an inch of space at the edge of the nori furthest from you, and rub a bit of warm water on it. This will help the two sides of nori stick together.
5. Line up your ingredients in the middle of the nori.
6. Tighten the roll as you go, the same way you would a rug to minimize excess space. Be careful not to make it too tight, however, or fillings may start to fall out.
7. Once tightened, you should be able to unwrap the bamboo without the roll coming apart.
8. Cover your roll with the bamboo mat and press your hands over it to further pack the roll.
9. Move your full roll to a cutting board. Slice it first down the middle. From there you can cut it into sixths or eighths, whichever you prefer.
10. It is best the rinse te sharp knife after every cut/slice, so that the cut is clean and smooth, with no rice sticking to it.

Mentor-Mentee?

"For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting, and urging you to live lives worthy of God,
who calls you into his kingdom and glory."
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12
I was reminded of what a mentor shoud be to his/her mentee.
I don't think I want to say more about it, you can ponder about it yourselves :)
(sorry for the akward-ness)

Lunch - On My Own

Since lunches are not provided by my homestay, I have to prepare my own lunch.
I really don't mind at all, I actually enjoy it :)
. . .
Some pictures of the lunches that I prepared over the one week Easter break!!
(these are real okay, original)
. . .
A. -Wednesday-

Stir-fried fettuccine + smoked ham + vege + carrots + tomatoes

B. - Thursday -
Rice (with teriyaki sauce)(someone stole my rice, so only have half left) + vege+ potatoes(i did't know it would be so many!!) + tomatoes + carrots + bacon (i know its odd, i thought it was beef)
. . .
C. - Friday -
Indonesian 'maggi' + egg + vege
(this is horrible compared to the other lunches I cooked up)
. . .
D. - Saturday -
Stir-fried Soba (some kind of Japanese noodles that I found in the pantry that had not expired) + egg (sunny side up/'mata kerbau') + dumplings + carrots + vege
-
(a close up...)
(btw, they are not burnt, it's the sauce that I used)
.
. . .
.
So, if you observed well enough, I used the same kind of vegies in all of them.. 'Cos its the only one I can find.
. .
Just for fun, please vote for the food that you would actually eat (come on la)..
Hehe..

Big Lesson by a Small Creature

(got this through an email)
THE ANT AND THE CONTACT LENS
A true story by Josh and Karen Zarandona

Brenda was a young woman who was invited to go rock climbing. Although she was very scared, she went with her group to a tremendous granite cliff. In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took hold of the rope, and started up the face of that rock.

Well, she got to a ledge where she could take a breather. As she was hanging on there, the safety rope snapped against Brenda's eye and knocked out her contact lens.

Well, here she is, on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below her and hundreds of feet above her. Of course, she looked and looked and looked, hoping it had landed on the ledge, but it just wasn't there.

Here she was, far from home, her sight now blurry. She was desperate and began to get upset, so she prayed to the Lord to help her to find it.

When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but there was no contact lens to be found. She sat down, despondent, with the rest of the party, waiting for the rest of them to make it up the face of the cliff.

She looked out across range after range of mountains, thinking of that verse that says, "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth." She thought, "Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me."

Finally, they walked down the trail to the bottom. At the bottom
there was a new party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, "Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?"

Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across the face of the rock, carrying it on it's back.

Brenda told me that her father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a picture of an ant lugging that contact lens with the words, "Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You."

I think it would probably do some of u s good to occasionally say, "God, I don't know why you want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if you want me to carry it, I will."

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Yes, I do love GOD. He is my source of existence and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him...I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)

God will make a way

"... And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he wll also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)

This reminded me of a 'saying':
"If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it."

I find it quite comforting to know that God would not just throw a big pile of stuff at you and say: "Nah! Give you. Handle it and learn from it." When we are given a pile of work to do, our parents would probably come and check on us once in a while. I would think that God would do the same as well, if not even more. There is nothing that comes our way, that we cannot handle or overcome.

God will make a way, for sure. I know.

- - - - - - - -

God Will Make A Way
God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way.

By a roadway in the wilderness, He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and earth will fade
But His Word will still remain
He will do something new today.

God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

- - - - - - - -
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:6

Easter Sunday

Easter is really big here. This week, all the supermarket catalogues are filled with chocolates-chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies, chocolate sticks, chocolate biscuit, chocolate cookies, chocolate cakes, chocolate brownies, chocolate flavoured cereal... Well, you get the idea.
.
Have you ever wondered how eggs, bunnies and chocolates came into the picture? I don't recall the Bible telling us about Jesus eating chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs..
.
.
Just before the weekend, one of my lecturers talked about Easter. He said that a long time ago, people had started to forget about Easter and it had started to lose its 'flavour'. So some people (forgot who) decided to have Easter Sunday on the same day Europeans have their end of Winter celebration.(True/false, I dunno)
.
"Or don't you know that all of us who were baptised into his death?
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,
we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death,
we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
For we know that our old self was cucified with him
so that the body of sin might be done away with,
that we should no longer be slaves to sin-
because anyone who has died has been freed from sin."
Romans 6:3-6 (NIV)
Let us learn to live a life that potrays that new life that we have gained through Jesus' resurrection.
.
To God be the glory forever and ever. Amen

My First Week at CIC

First week(excluding orientation) was alright. Just had to go to classes and buy books. The books are really expensive (My friend paid AUD100 for Physics 2nd-hand book). I have not bought all my books yet.
Some stuff that I had to do that I never had to do before:

  1. take the bus everyday

  2. do my own laundry

  3. put sunscreen everyday!!
Some stuff that happened:

  1. got lost while looking for the bus stop to go home, ended up in the student guild area

  2. got lost again, this time, I ended up in the car park

  3. went to 2nd-hand Book Sale (sold my students) - managed to get 2 out of 4 books that I need for thi semester

  4. found out that there was a 2nd-hand bookstore that sold books at a much much cheaper price (it was too late when I found out, no books left)

  5. went to the library to look for the books, but got blur, so I had to ask for help from a librarian

Bus experiences:

  1. missed the bus stop and ended up in a shopping mall, then had to take another bus back again.

  2. almost missed the bus because I didn't hail it.

  3. kinda got scolded by the bus driver and 2 elders because of 1 and 2

  4. every trip is AUD0.90, sometimes AUD0.60 I don;t know why the rated are different

Classes and Lectures:

  1. changed my schedule and units many times over a long period of time(one and a half weeks)

  2. Taking 8 units over 2 semesters (which means I'll probably be back around October before I go back in February again)

  3. Exam is in Week 13 (now is still in Week 1)

Units for Semester 1:

Communications 1:

  • All the girls in the class(other than me) are Indonesians (except one who is pretty much Australian)

  • I'm the only girl who did not sit with a girl (cos odd number, and I came in later than the other girls)

  • I'm sitting at the last row in class (same reason)

  • I'm going to sit somewhere neared to the front in the next class (hopefully)

  • I have not met the lecturer because it was another who taught us for Week 1

  • I'm praying that the lecturer is a good and patient (haha..)

  • I asked around, according to senior students, should be a piece of cake (hopefully)

Mathematics 021 (Form 4)

  • I have not been to the class yet (missed the first week because I took too long to decide on my units-the mentor give wrong info-agrhhhh)

  • Heard that the lecturer likes to tease and say stuff about his students

  • Most students, generally don't like him

Physics 013 (Form 4)

  • Out of about 40 students, only about 4 are female

  • According to the lecturer, JB, guys cannot work with girls

  • But I don't wanna work with girls only (because from what I observed, most of the other girls won't be putting in much effort in projects and assignments)

Programming:

  • Out of about 25 students, 2-4 are female

  • Again, according to the lecturer, JB, guys cannot work with girls

  • And guys cannot ask girls for help, unless the girl ask them for help

  • I don't like this unit!!

  • This is SOOO not me

  • But, its an open book test (haha), and you can use any saved projects when you are sitting for the exam
----------------------------------------------
Lecturer JB:
  1. has a great sense of humour

  2. despises John Howard and George Bush

  3. students cannot refer to him as 'Sir' (or mister) If they do, for 4 or more times in one semester, they will fail

  4. when there is something he likes or he thinks is cool, he says:

COOL BANANAS!!!

My Place

.

That's my room. Quite nice kan..

The house is at along the main road, not a 'lorong'. So every now and then, I will hear people talking when they are taking a walk outside, or cars zooming across the road. And the street lights are really bright.

.

Last night (or this morning) I suddenly wake up from my sleep. Then I see got light from outside shining into my room. Then I panic, I thought it was morning already (I was expecting visitors). So I quickly look at my clock,

1.08 a.m.
